IPL Treatment in Malmö - Photo Rejuvenation
Light therapy to reduce pigmentation spots, superficial blood vessels, rosacea, and uneven skin tone. Gives more even and fresh complexion.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), also called photo-rejuvenation or photofacial, is a gentle and effective light treatment that improves the skin's overall quality and appearance. Unlike lasers, IPL uses a broad spectrum of light wavelengths to simultaneously treat multiple skin concerns like pigmentation disorders, superficial blood vessels, rosacea, uneven skin tone, and texture.
At Almasa Clinic, we use medical IPL equipment with various filter settings adapted to your specific skin type and treatment needs. The intense light penetrates the skin and is absorbed by dark pigment and hemoglobin (blood red) which breaks down unwanted pigmentation spots and coagulates superficial blood vessels.
IPL is particularly effective for treating: pigmentation spots and sun damage (age spots, liver spots), melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, superficial blood vessels and spider veins, rosacea and diffuse redness, large pores and coarse skin texture, and mild acne (by reducing inflammation and bacteria). Treatment also stimulates collagen production for skin tightening and rejuvenation.
An IPL treatment takes 20-40 minutes depending on treatment size. Immediately after treatment, skin looks slightly red but this disappears within hours. Pigmentation spots become darker first and then flake off after 5-14 days. For optimal results, 3-6 treatments with 3-4 week intervals are recommended.
FAQ: IPL Treatment
Laser uses a specific wavelength for precise treatment while IPL uses multiple wavelengths to treat various skin concerns simultaneously — more versatile but slightly less precise.
You feel brief light flashes that can be experienced as small rubber band snaps. We apply cooling gel for comfort. Most find the treatment well tolerable.
Pigmentation spots darken and flake off after 1-2 weeks. Redness and blood vessels decrease gradually over several treatments. Full effect appears after 3-6 treatments.
IPL increases sun sensitivity so treatment is recommended in autumn/winter. Tanned skin must not be treated (risk of burns and pigmentation changes).
IPL suits lighter skin types best. Very dark skin risks hypo/hyperpigmentation. During consultation, we assess if IPL is safe for you.
